This mural is based on a 19th century landscape photograph, "Reflected Trees," by Fox Talbot, the inventor of the silver negative photographic process. The mural includes both negative and positive versions of the image. As the sun moves across the sky and lights the wall from different angles the silver eventually shines brighter than the white paint, eventually flipping the positive and negative images.
This project was made possible through a Clean City Minneapolis Graffiti Abatement grant, administered by the Powderhorn Park Neighborhood Association.
